Daily Intake 18.08.2011

Accompanied by beer and pizza, I read the most recent couple of chapters of one of my favourite manga: Genshiken! I really enjoyed them, and laughed out loud a whole lot. Other than being funny, the new chapters also introduce some new romance angles and bring back all the Genshiken gang (except Saki)! Yep, we even get to see the prodigious otaku, Kousaka again!

Other than that, I watched Kaiji with a bro over Skype last night for maximum fun. It’s a shame that this new arc turned out to be too long. The tension is starting to fade big time. I’ve also been studying Japanese grammar again (I wish I could keep up some kind of regular schedule but sporadic is better than none at all, right?).

I’ve also been thinking about the Japan trip a lot, and I’m really excited to have another person I’m really looking forward to meeting coming on board! I think there are now 7 of us going to Comiket 81.

Oh yeah, I’ve found a bit of time here and there to play Grief Syndrome, and I really like it! Definitely an impressive piece of work for a doujin game.

⚫ Two really awesome done Madoka MADs from nico video are embedded here. The back half of the first one is a pretty hilarious parody of Pani Poni Dash (with some SZS references). I guess the idea came about because so many seiyuus match up in Shaft anime. I didn’t really get the second one because I’m not sure what it was a parody of, but it was still really well done!

Website is up for a new game: .Hack//3rd Project (I guess that’s a working title). Although I’d rather a new anime announcement, it’s good to see the .Hack franchise is alive and well (my faith in it was revived by Quantum).

⚫ Madoka Magica Production Note book/folder from SHAFT to be released toward the end of next month! LINK

⚫ Latest Oricon ranking for light novel volumes puts Index New Testament vol.2 first with 158,000 copies sold in its first week. That’s followed by Durarara vol.10 with 86,000 in its first week. (source)

⚫ A new radio show starting up for Zero no Tsukaima LINK. Could this be a precursor to a fourth season?

⚫ The PV is out for Ro-kyu-bu’s OP, SHOOT! and a live tour has been announced, with performances on the 23rd and 30th of October. (source)

⚫ Cover illustration revealed for Nishio Ishin’s new novel: Shojou Fujuunbun.

⚫ There are reports on twitter that the reservations for the first volumes of Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi are favorable. I kinda hope they are, but I think I’ll wait to see some actual figures first.

⚫ This is cool: Live-Action Kaiji Actor to Guest-Star in Kaiji Anime

⚫ An extra volume for the magazine Otona Anime (Adult Anime) will be going on sale specialising in the Magical Girl genre. It promises to cover in detail everything from Madoka Magica to Fairy Princess Minky Momo from the early 80s, and will include interviews with Junichi Sato, Kunihiko Yuyama, Morio Asaka (Cardcaptor Sakura director), Momoi (classic moe seiyuu – Popotan, Nurse Witch Komugi), Yuuki Aoi and others!
