Daily Intake 17.02.11

⚫ Robotics notes is the new game from Nitroplus + .5pb (after Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head before that) which is being described as a ‘scientific adventure’ game. THe character designs for the protagonist and heroine have been released, and they look really good! They definitely have a strong aura! link

⚫ Tamayura (Junichi Satou’s anime about girls and cameras) TV-anime is set to air in October, fall season! I really enjoyed what I saw of the OVAs! Junichi Satou has been one of my favourite directors for .. a long time. It’s nice to see he’s still so prolific and doing such vibrant works for TV. link

⚫ Mel Kishida, the awesome artist behind the original designs for So-ra-no-wo-to and many light novel illustrations tweeted in regards to P.A Works’ upcoming TV-anime, Hana Saku Iroha, for which he is also the original character designer. He says the editing is done for episode one, and that he’s seen 2. He wants people to anticipate this anime! I certainly am. source

⚫ The author of Working!! distributed these chocolates to the relevant parties. They’re awesome! link

⚫ This post of star driver merchandise highlights the interesting issue: why is Wako excluded!? Seriously, every other character gets their fair share of merchandise, but somehow one of the three main characters is almost completely left out? link

⚫ God Dolls, a TV-anime based on a manga by Hajime Yamamura, was announced mid last year. Now, some further information has been released: the core staff and cast list! It’s interesting how long this anime has clearly been in the planning stage. I’d completely forgotten about it until now, but the supernatural-action story still grabs my attention.

Director: Seiji Kishi (Seto no Hanayome)
Script/Series Composition: Makoto Uezu (Katanagatari, Kore wa Zombie Desu ka)
Character Design: Kazuaki Morita (Astro Fighter Sun Red)
    Animation Studio: Brains Base

Misato Fukuen (Yoshika from Strike Witches), Ai Kayano (Isana from Yumekui Merry)
    Nobuhiko Okamoto (Accelerator from Index)

This is a very interesting staff list, because it is yet another work by these Sun Red staff (all of the core staff worked on Sun Red in the same roles), who seem to be practically impossible to separate. Their strong bond obviously came about when they worked on Seto no Hanayome and discovered they could do comedy well. They are all also working on the upcoming Type-Moon OVA, Carnival Phantasm. That is also done by Brains Base and so has a practically identical staff list! I wonder how these guys will go doing something that isn’t a riotous comedy? If it wasn’t written on the sleeve of the latest volume of the manga, I’d think this staff list was fake!

⚫ The senile old bastard, Ishihara (governor of Tokyo metropolis), came out and sorrowfully said he finds the withdrawal of the publishers and companies from TAF regrettable, and that he had even sent out a letter of apology to the companies to try and patch things up. In case you hadn’t heard, most anime and manga companies pulled out of TAF in protest of the new reforms to the regulation of anime and manga in the Tokyo Metropolis, which were introduced and pushed by Ishihara. They did this because Ishihara is the chief if the TAF board and so its failure is his responsibility. Luckily, we now have ACE to look forward to instead! I won’t be shedding any tears for TAF. link

⚫ Itsuka Tenma Kuro Usagi is getting a TV-anime adaptation! official site.

## Read a couple of chapters of Negima today, which bought me up to date! After a few chapters of confusion with all the Fates showing up everywhere, this chapter really upped the ante and urgency meter and set the stage for a suspenseful showdown between Negi and Fate. One thing I’m waiting desperately to see is Setsuna’s fight. I’d be very angry if it were to occur off-screen!

## I also caught up with Kore Zombie. Episode 5 was really fun, with the perfect mix of action and fanservice. I am totally smitten by Haruna’s sexyness, and I can’t wait to see what the BD-versions will bring to the table in terms of uncensorship! Episode 6 was more serious and plot-driven, which, surprisingly, worked really well! The battle was quite epic, with Yuu displaying an impressive reserve of magical power. Seeing the many different varieties of supernatural powers that this show has covered clashing together was interesting too. Once again, Yuu scored some major charm points.

  1. The lack of Wako merchandise saddens me :( Oh well i hope they will feature her more next merchandise materials considering how awesome she was in latest episode!

    1. I know! I started reading Negima back when it was still in its Love Hina 2.0 phase and I really enjoyed it then (actually sometimes I miss that style a little). But its become something so much bigger..

  2. There’s no Nitroplus involvement on Robotics;Notes, BTW.

Not that they had much to do with the previous games in the first place (the “collaboration” was for marketing purposes since 5pb had yet to establish a strong brand identity. Nitroplus only contributed backgrounds, some programming, and some sub-scenario assistance). Nevertheless, the change is a little significant, now that 5pb CEO Chiyomaru Shikura is promoting his brand like crazy and declaring himself the series creator.

    1. Hey thanks for the comment.

I don’t really follow games too closely, but I do find the Nitroplus/5pb games interesting. Surprising to hear tha Nitroplus isn’t involved, just because the name of the new game sort of implies it’s part of the same “series” (in the vague sense of the word). So you’re saying 5pb needed Nitroplus’s clout to get their games promoted and such, and this game they’re really stepping out on their own two feet? Nice to know.
