A visual guide to the week in anime/otaku news and distractions! Hopefully this new post format is useful and fun for people. Please comment to share your thoughts, observations, additions, corrections, et cetera! Let’s get a discussion going! I really want to know what people think of this post format, so I’m encouraged to continue doing them every week.
Welcome back everyone! Since my last weekly news post, the year counter clocked over to 2011, so a belated happy new year to everyone *raises glass*! It’s appropriate that this last week (or just over a week, actually) was packed with a myriad of new anime announcements and unveiling! Comiket happened just before January started, and was a venue for most companies to showcase their upcoming anime works in the form of trailers! So, lets welcome the new year by looking ahead, to an exciting horizon of new anime! The number of original anime coming continues to startle me in a very good way. I’d like to hear everyone’s hopes and expectations for these anime.
Sofuteni Comiket PV
It looks cute!
Looks interesting, and definitely better quality than Chaos;Head was. The colours are a bit dull, but hopefully it won’t feel that way in the context of the show.
Gundam Unicorn 3 PV
Starry Sky e Kakaru Hashi PV
Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa nai PV
Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera PV
This is the first I’ve seen or heard of this anime, but it looks really amusing! The PV shows off the old-school character designs, some perversity, and a craziness that’s bound to be entertaining. Apparently it’s a remake of a 1970s anime. Interesting!
The visual quality in this PV is undeniable! I’m looking forward to this next-season noitamina original anime!
Lotte no Omocha! PV
Loli ecchi, with strong production quality! It looks like a cute anime.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
It’s a little disconcerting that SHAFT clearly isn’t far enough into the production of this anime to give us some animation in their PV..
Fractale PV 2
Finally a 2nd Fractale PV! But it’s so close to airing that it seems a little pointless to start promoting it properly now. On the upside, the animation featured in the PV is nice, and the song (which is the OP) is really good. It looks set to be my favourite OP of the season.
I have to admit, I’m intrigued by this anime, even if I’m not a fan of the director’s previous works.
Mouretsu Space Pirates PV
⚫ Sengoku Basara movie version to be screened on the 4th of June
⚫ Nice article about Yamakan’s aims for Fractale and his career. Sums up what I’ve been trying to tell people about Yamakan for some time. http://www.asahi.com/english/TKY201101050206.html#
