This is a video composed of scenes from anime which with key animation by Tomoyuki Niho, one of many unique and well-known animators in the industry today. He’s best known for his work on the second season of Birdy the Mighty Decode, some of which is pretty divisive. I admit to not really being a fan of some of his cuts in Birdy, particularly the scene of young Birdy fighting the tanks. There’s a point where simple drawings take the edge of what would otherwise be difficult animation (not that it would have been easy!). I think it’s pretty clear that he’s pretty good at animating complex scenes in a 3D space, but not particularly good at drawing faces in motion (but that’s what we have animation directors for!). Not my favourite animator by any means, but interesting stuff nonetheless!
